Education Reflection #1
My educational career is in a transitional period. The reason why I say I am in a transitional moment in my career is because I am leaving the first year hecticness and feeling like the classroom is my second home. I look forward to going to work and spend more time perfecting my lesson plans. As I am getting ready to wrap up my second CALTPA I am feeling less stressed, and more relaxed. I now feel like I am so close to finally getting my credential. In addition, I have amazing co-workers who help me and work with me like a team without any put downs. I am now at a spot where I trust my colleagues (team) and they trust me. Now, to top it all off, the administration is really helpful, and I can see it in them that they want to see me succeed. Furthermore, I stand as a rookie teacher that is barely starting to take off; however, I have made some good progress on my education. Moreover, I think that the current state of education is good. I firmly believe that there are some great teachers who are producing some bright students. I do know that the mathematics curriculum is changing from being integrated to being traditional so it does seem like we are going back to traditional organization (at least in the math world). In my humble opinion, it is all about family and relationships. Our country’s test scores will only get better once we embrace the fact that relationships and a family structure are the roots of well educated successful system. Consequently, our values in education and test scores will be better. In all, our educational system has taken me out of poverty, and I serve as proof that it works well and good.

Reflection #2
I have to start off by saying that Mr. Griggs is a phenomenal professor who makes the class very fun. Now, I think that what we learned on Tuesday was all about reflecting. I can say that learned a lot about the history of education. We learned that education is not very black and white and the history makes it even more intriguing. Our educational system was designed by people who were at the time rich. In addition, we learned that there were several college professors who wanted to retire so they told people to try and get people to college. Moreover, we learned that during the great depression, people did not want kids working, so we kept them in school. This was to adults have more available jobs while at the same time our people were at war. Furthermore, I think that the biggest takeaway was that we all did agree that our educational system had fundamental challenges; however, it is up to us the teachers to change and inspire change in our schools. We can go and show up to our jobs with pride and wanting to change our students. This involves caring for students, being genuine, and doing the best you can to make those kids succeed. Furthermore, I think it was an amazing reflective experience to see a video that talks about how our kids today are being over diagnosed with ADHD. This is a personal experience as I have had students who are on meds and actually struggle more to get focused. In essence, It makes me what to make my kids active in school, and get them off their daily struggles to have a little fun with me. In all, I think class was very fun, and an awesome reflective experience.

Reflection #3
The class from last week was very engaging and helpful. One of the biggest take ways that I got from the class last week was the circle. This was a defining learning activity that gave me another tool in my restorative practice’s spectrum. In fact, the way that it was structured was helpful. It helped me see that circles can allow me to build a classroom community that is a place where members want to be restored in relationship to my classroom. I think that for my lower level math classes, this was an amazing activity. It really helped me engage my students. In addition, in the first thing during class, I noticed that Mr. Griggs, did sort of like a check in question that was more of a one answer question to see how we were doing. This helped us check in to the classroom and get in the zone to share out. Furthermore, the circle content helped us have a genuine discussion about a particular topic. Mr. Griggs acted as a facilitator that was there to help us have something to discuss. I also noticed that he went from a low risk question to a more high-risk question further helping us get a little more deep to talk about a weak spot of ours. At the end, I noticed he closed the circle by giving us consistent and brief idea to wrap it all: relationships. At the end, I really enjoyed how we really just reflected on putting students first in our classrooms. He stressed relationships, and to me that hit home. Later, we went on to review the shadow a student assignment, but the circle assignment was a very important tool I learned last week.
